Reimagine YO Baltimore’s West Side Youth Opportunity Center

Baltimore

We’re looking for architects, landscape designers, and artists to support an exciting beautification effort at YO Baltimore’s West Side Youth Opportunity Center in Harlem Park. For 25 years, YO Baltimore has been a vital hub for young people ages 17–24, offering career development, education, mental health services, and more. Now, with support from NDC, the Center is looking to revitalize its exterior to reflect the energy and impact of its programs. Volunteers will contribute to a site study, conceptual facade designs, and creative placemaking ideas—including youth-led installations—for the building at 1510 W. Lafayette Ave. This is a great opportunity to use your skills to uplift a space that’s central to the lives of so many in the community.

Interested in getting involved? This project is set to begin in mid- to late May. Please reach out to Julia DiMauro at jdimauro@ndc-md.org if you are interested or have any questions.

Help Shape the Vision for a More Welcoming Harwood Park

Baltimore

Harwood Community Association (HCA) is partnering with NDC to breathe new life into Harwood Park—and we need your creativity and expertise! We're looking for landscape designers, play space designers, and volunteers interested in community engagement to support a conceptual redesign of this important neighborhood green space.

Volunteers will help conduct a site study, participate in community visioning sessions, and develop a landscape plan with thoughtful recommendations for plantings, materials, and play features. The goal? A more welcoming, shaded, and accessible park that serves residents of all ages and supports gathering, play, and events.

Help shape a greener, more inviting future for Harwood Park. Interested? This project is set to begin in mid- to late May. Please reach out to Julia DiMauro at jdimauro@ndc-md.org if you are interested or have any questions.

“Working with NDC has taught me to listen to every unique voice in a design process and to always include those voices in design decisions.”

Carol Currotto, Interior Designer

“NDC provided me with an opportunity to work on a project with community stakeholders. I’ve always believed that to have a better understanding of where you are working, you need to go to those communities and talk with the residents.”
