We love getting the chance to work with amazing community partners, and as Hispanic Heritage Month wraps up, we’ve got to give a shoutout to Defensores de la Cuenca—a Latino-led nonprofit connecting Latinos and Spanish-speaking communities to nature and protecting the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Their name literally means Watershed Defenders!!
Our partnership is part of the Maryland Climate Crew Network (CCN), a green workforce development program creating career pathways in under-resourced communities. We’ve already hosted an “Intro to Landscape Architecture” presentation, designed tree planting plans, and now we’re gearing up for a hands-on planting day with Defensores de la Cuenca!
